Privacy Policy

GrabCSS is a browser extension that lets you inspect any element on a web page and copy its CSS and HTML. We built it to respect your privacy. This policy explains exactly what data the extension handles.

The short version

GrabCSS does not track you, does not run analytics, and does not sell or share your data. The CSS and HTML it reads from web pages stay on your device — they are placed on your clipboard and never sent anywhere.

What data we handle

• License key. When you activate the paid version, the license key you enter is sent to our payment provider, Gumroad, solely to verify that it is valid. We do not store it on any server of ours.
• Activation status & email. Gumroad's verification response (including the purchase email) is stored locally in your browser via chrome.storage so you don't have to re-enter your key. It is never transmitted anywhere else.
• Settings. Your preferences from the options page are stored locally via chrome.storage and, if you are signed into Chrome, synced across your own devices by Chrome. We never receive them.
• Web page content. The styles and markup of elements you inspect are read locally to display and copy them. This data never leaves your device.

Network requests

The only external request GrabCSS makes is to https://api.gumroad.com, and only to verify your license key. No other servers are contacted.

Permissions

• activeTab & scripting — to run the inspector on the page you are currently viewing, only after you activate it.
• storage — to save your settings and license status locally.
• Host access to api.gumroad.com — to verify your license.
• Access to web pages — so the inspector can run on whatever site you choose to inspect. It stays inactive until you activate it.

Third parties

License verification is handled by Gumroad, subject to Gumroad's Privacy Policy. We use no other third parties and no advertising or analytics services.
